Beginners - Make a simple Patchwork Throw/Quilt

Create a stunning but simple, wonderful, cosy,  vintage style patchwork throw to enhance your home. Express your creativity to make it as colourful and decorative as you please. The finished size will be approx. 50" x 60" using 10" squares (not including border/edging) but if you wish to make a smaller throw/quilt using upcycled fabrics (baby grows, clothing etc) that is also an option.

You will learn:

  • Measuring
  • Making templates
  • Joining patches on the sewing machine
  • Adding batting to create warmth and depth
  • Finishing edges by making your own unique decorative edge
  • Advice & demonstration of machine stippling to add interest (optional)

Additional costs: 30 x 10" squares of cotton fabric (known as layer cake when ordering online, usually in packs of 42) or squares (all same size) cut from clothing etc in your chosen size (pre-cut please). Alternatively you can buy a charm pack of squares which will make a smaller throw (please email me for amounts). Two metres of 60" wide batting (wadding can also be used but not as effective). Two metres of 60" or wider coordinating cotton backing; this can also be used for edging. All tools, refreshments and haberdashery are included in the price.

Knowledge level: Suitable for someone who can use a sewing machine. The charm pack option is better for beginners!
