Sewing for beginners

Have you always wanted to learn to sew but just don’t know where to start? Do you need guidance in how to use a sewing machine? Making a lined and reversible tote/magazine bag in a day, this course will help you gain confidence with a simple project to get you started.

Things you will learn

  • cut fabric using a simple paper pattern
  • thread machine, wind a bobbin & how to use a sewing machine
  • how to attach handles
  • stitch & finish seams
  • add a pocket
  • if time permits you will also learn to sew a button hole, cover your own button and sew it on as a closure & decoration to your bag

You will need to bring: 1 metre cotton fabric, or 3/4 metre of 2 fabrics if you would like a contrast lining and matching thread  (optional).

Knowledge level: someone who has never sewn, or who would like to refresh their sewing.

Additional costs: None. The price includes use of our sewing machines and refreshments.
