Jacket Workshop - Vintage or Unisex Bomber

This simple but stylish loose fitting vintage style jacket is an ideal accessory to any wardrobe. This versatile style looks fantastic made in a range of fabrics including; wool, brocade & taffeta. The length and sleeve can be altered to suit your individual taste and the collar drapes beautifully to create front pockets. Alternatively you can make a unique, fashionable bomber jacket which look great in a range of fabrics, patterns & colours.  Jackets can be lined or unlined. Please email me your choice when booking.

You will learn:

  • To adjust and adapt a commercial  pattern
  • To cut and sew different fabrics
  • Add welts & pockets
  • Add lining
  • Add an exposed zip
  • How to create a collar & cuffs
  • Add stiffening to collar etc
  • How to understitch
  • Hand finishing

For the Bomber Jacket you will need:

  • 1.5 metres of 150cm or 2 metres of 11cm wide fabric outer in; wool blends, brocade, scuba, silk mix. Equal amounts of lining fabric.
  • A 20" open ended zip (XS, S, M) or 22" (L,XL,XXL)
  • Approx 1/4 metre of rib knit for collar & cuffs
  • Matching thread

For the Vintage Jacket you will need:

  • 2.5 metres of outer fabric in; wool, brocade, medium/heavy weight cotton.
  • 1.75 metres of lining
  • Matching thread

Additional costs: None, patterns, all other haberdashery, tools and refreshments are included in the price.

Please note: This is a two day workshop on Saturday 29th 10-4.30pm  & Sunday 30th October 10-3pm 2016

Suitable for: Intermediate, someone who is experienced and confident using a sewing machine.
